The Ventura Youth Correctional Facility located in Camarillo, in Ventura County, is a reception center-clinic and program facility which houses and provides diagnostic services for the female population. This facility is comprised of living units with individual rooms.
Mary B. Perry High School provides instruction in basic skills, high school courses, GED preparation, and vocational training. Special education services are available. Qualified youths have an opportunity to earn college credits towards an Associate of Arts Degree through Ventura Community College. A Free Venture Program is available as well as furloughs for work experience.
Immediately adjacent to the Ventura Youth Correctional Facility is the Sylvester Carraway Public Service and Fire Center. The camp program at this site has a female fire crew as well as male fire crews. Female camp youths reside within the main facility and male youths reside at the camp.
Special programs available for female youths include a residential substance abuse treatment program, an intensive treatment program, and a specialized counseling program. This site has a large and well-developed volunteer program.
